- In the beginning the Aunt and mother of Cal got sick with leukemia and eventually pasted away. Cal had only one place he could go and that was with his Aunt and his cousin Hannah.
- With the Aunt getting sick and the mom having to quiet her job it caused the parents to argue about bills and money.
- When dad did not show up to the gymnastics meet Hannah got really nervous but before she want on he showed up just in time.
- After a long time of struggling the dad feels stressed because he has no help with money so he starts using drugs with the family's savings and eventually gets kicked out by the mother and his wife.
- After the mom living alone with 2 kids and barely getting by the other Aunt invites them to stay with her for a while.
- Finally it was Christmas Eve and the family was watching a movie while Cal was upstairs wrapping something he comes down and hands the gift to Hannah he wants her to open it now. She opens the gift and she see's a sparkly purple competition leotard just like the one he dried when he pranked her.
