- Bud is a kid in an orphanage who learns that he and another boy named Jerry will be going into temporary-care homes. Bud is going into a care home with a boy 2 years older than him while Jerry will in a house with 3 girls.
- Bud arrives at his new temporary-care home and Todd, the child of the Amoses is beating him up. Todd's mom comes into the room and Todd pretends to be the one injured. The Amoses make Bud sleep in the shed because he hurt Todd
- Mr. Amose takes Bud to the shed and tells him he has to stay in there until morning. Bud cuts his finger on some fish heads above the shed door. Then Bud mistakes a hornets nest for a vampire, which then causes him to worry that its going to bite him then he decides he's going to get rid of it which then means that the hornets go after him
