- Petrúcio Ferreira's story begins in his mother's belly: Rita Ferreira. She is a strong and hardworking woman, who faced difficulties and spent the pregnancy of her first and expected child under medication. In a city where access to a hospital was difficult, she went into labor and was helped by a neighbor. When Petrúcio was almost 2 years old, he accidentally injured himself and cut his own arm with a chaff cutter on his parents’ farm.
- In his childhood, his favorite sport was soccer. However, when he was representing his school in a futsal championship in the city of Catolé, he was observed by Ricardo Ambrósio. He watched Petrúcio Ferreira playing futsal and standing out among the rest of the students. He talked to Petrúcio’s PE teacher and invited the boy to participate in a 100m race in the Paralympic modality.
