  • After years of tension between Japan and China war was inevitable the "Incidents" include the annexation of Korea which was China's territory in 1910 and the next one was Japanese invasion of Manchuria in 1931 then 6 years later then officially invaded China with the Marco polo Bridge incident.
  • This next battle to place shanghai this was the bloodiest battle of the whole war the 3 month long battle was aimed to stalled the Japanese advanced towards the capital Nanking despite the Chinese best effort it ended in Chineses retreat,however the Japanese troops were lacking morale form the long bloody battle
  • This battle was crucial since Nanking was the China's capital at the time this battle lasted from December 9,1937 to January 31,1938 but it eventually ended in Chineses defeat.
  • China received aid from Nazi Germany for a short period, until Hitler made an alliance with Japan in 1938 purely for military strategic reasons. Hitler also thought Japan would be of aid to the Axis powers in WWII.
  • Shortly after the Marco Polo Bridge Incident, the Nationalists and Communists that were undergoing a power struggle in China agreed to fight side by side against the threat posed by Japan under the Xi'an Agreement.
  • The Battle of Nanking was notorious because thousands of civilians were raped and killed day the battle ended. This became known as the Nanking Massacre. The Nanking Massacre turned many countries against Japan.
