  • This is part of a poem by Langston Hughes during the Harlem Renaissance called Mother to Son. Other important influences during the Harlem Renaissance include Countee Cullen - a famous writer, and Bessie Smith and Duke Ellington who were both musicians.

  • But because of the Harlem Renaissance Movement I was able to embrace my culture write poems, make art, and music and play instruments
  • Susan is right. Woman were not able to vote until November 1920!! The 19th Amendment was passed and Mary, Susan, and many other woman got the freedom to vote!
