- We need to ensure that all states, including Iowa fulfill their obligation to admit immigrants. I have the authority under the Immigration and Nationality Act to determine immigration policy for the entire country not just individual states
- Exactly Mr. President. The federal government jurisdiction over immigration supreme. The Supremacy Clause of the US constitution ensures that federal laws override state laws, so Iowa cant just refuse to comply

- Mr. President. You cant forget the US Supreme Courts consistent rulings. They've repeatedly upheld the federal governments power in immigration matters. State attempts to resist federal immigration laws have been struck down in the past.
- Right, The federal government handles immigration and states must comply with out policies. We cant have a patchwork of different immigration laws. Iowa must follow federal guidelines, or we'll have chaos across the country.

- Then its settled. We'll ensure Iowa complies with federal immigration laws. Lets make sure they understand that federal authority is absolute in all these matters.
- Absolutely and the Immigration and Nationality Act with give you authority to enforce immigration around all states.
- Agreed, Mr. President. We need consistent enforcement. This isnt just about allowing immigrants, its about ensuring a uniform approach to national security.
