- Act One Scene One
- You living the fast life...wanna be a musician...running around in them clubs and things...then, you learn to take care of yourself.
- I ain't asked you to give me nothing. I asked you to loan me 10 dollars. I know you got ten dollars.
- Act One Scene Two
- If my brother didn't have that metal plate in his head...I wouldn't have a pot to piss in or a window to throw it out of.
- You done what was right by him. Can't nobody say you ain't done what was right by him. Look how long you took care of him.

- While you thinking about a TV, I got to be thinking about the roof...and whatever else go wrong around here.
- Troy is disappointed in Cory because instead of finding a real job he chose to be a musician who plays in clubs.
- He had to give up privacy of his whole life to take care of Gabriel when he lost half his head in war.
- Instead of buying a TV to make everyone happy, he has to worry about keeping the house intact so they won't worry about any problems.
