  • NO MORE SLAVERY!!!

  • Georgia Platform
  • Slavery grew quickly due to agriculture. The South was for slavery but the North was against it. 
  • Dred Scott v. Sanford Decision
  • During the compromise of 1850 California wanted to be a free state. There was also no slave states to balance in congress and Washington DC banned slavery.
  • Election of 1860
  • LINCOLN WINS!!!
  • The Georgia platform passed the fugitive Slave Act. The fugitive Slave Act was when owners could go to the North and capture runaway slaves and they would agree to compromise.
  • Debate Over GA Secession
  • Yes! Secede!
  • Do Not Secede
  • The Dred Scott Case was when a former slave sued in supreme court for his freedom, but he looses. He lost because the court said that slaves were only a piece of property; not real humans.
  • Lincoln won this election over 3 other candidates. During this election there was a huge sectionalism issue. After Lincoln won South Carolina was the first to secede.
  • There was a debate over Georgia's secession because Alexander Stephens had doubt about the path they were taking.
