Jerusalem was a bustling and vibrant city, with crowds of people and animals every where enjoying the fish and fruits in the streets, under the shadow of the Golden Gate. It was so busy that it was impossible to walk about without being trampled on.Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey after he sent two of his friends to get him one. The people of Jerusalem were very excited to see Jesus arriving and covered the path with garments and palm leaves.
Jesus gathered the twelve men that had travelled the long journey with him to have a meal as they were all very hungry following the tough and long trip. He told the surprised disciples that one of them would betray him and that he would die tomorrow, but he also told them not to worry as he would rise again.
The soldiers had paid Judas a pile of silver to kiss the man that was Jesus. Judas kissed Jesus on the cheek and started crying as he new he had betrayed Jesus and the other disciples.
Even though Jesus had carried a heavy cross while wearing a spiky crown of thorns and soldiers shouted and spat at him, Jesus stayed calm and silent as he was crucified with two others on the top of a hill at Golgotha.
Jesus was wrapped tightly in linen and buried in a tomb with the entrance covered by a huge rock by Joseph of Arimathea, he knew he was the Son of God.On the very next day, Mary Magdalene noticed that the enormous rock had been rolled out of the way of the entrance to the dark tomb. It was a very sunny day so the sun lit up the path into the mysterious tomb.
As the women crept slowly towards the entrance they saw a glorious, bright and smiling angel in the now empty tomb. They ran to find the disciples to tell them the incredible news, Jesus has risen!
