- The Game
- Timmy is in a basketball game and is tied with 5 seconds remaining. Timmy wants to swish his next shot so that he can win the game. So Timmy crosses up his defender named James then dribbles to the corner.
- The Math

- Once in the corner, he wants to know how tall the basketball hoop is, so he is at a 45 degree angle and is 22 feet away from the hoop. To figure that out he uses trigonometry to solve it. He uses TAN to solve how tall the basketball hoop is. He does the math quickly doing TAN(45)*22=22ft. Once he does the math he knows how tall the basket is. He then proceeds to shoot the ball and swishes it to win the game!!! SUUUIIIIIIII

- Timmy decides to do the same exact move from the game and crosses up James again, but James recovers and wants to block Timmy’s three from the wing. James is 2.4 feet away from Timmy and knows he needs to jump 1.8 feet high to block him. He wants to know to what angle of elevation he needs to jump to be able to block the ball. He uses TAN. TAN-1=1.8ft/2.4ft Which equals 36.9 degrees. Because he did his math right he was able to smack the ball out of bounds.

The angle he’s at is 45 and he is 3 ft away from the basket. He uses TAN(45°)*X/3=5.2ft. and windmill tomahawks it. The crowd goes wild, disabled Dan and hurting Hannah yell the loudest!
