- Bruno comes back from school to find Maria,( the family's maid) packing all his things and putting them in boxes. Later he finds out his family and he are moving from Berlin, Germany to Auschwitz, Poland for his dad's work.
- In that same month there was a historical event going on which was when Armed Jewish resistance to Nazi attempt to liquidate Jews in Warshaw Ghetto in January 1943.

- Bruno didn't want to leave Berlin, especially because all his friends were there, his big 5-floor house, the banister and much more. But he was forced to move and was very sad to leave to go to Auschwitz, Poland.
- Just a couple days later Germany's Sixth Army surrenders at Stalingrad. 1943
- Not so cool in my opinion.
- This is a cool place.
- His new house in Auschwitz was very small and isolated compared to his old house in Berlin. He immediately wanted to go back home with his family- Bruno's parents, Gretel (The hopeless case), lieutenant Kotler, Maira and Lars. His house was also beside the largest concentration camp in the world, Auschwitz. He would look out his window every day and wonder why there were people on the other side of the fence with striped pyjamas.
- Just one month later from Bruno's death Allies begin bombing raids on Germany.1944

- Bruno went on an exploration along the fence. On his adventure, he found a 9-year-old boy named Shmuel and had the same birthday as Bruno. They start to share things like Shmuel being Jewish and Bruno the son of a Nazi commandant. They soon enough become friends.
- Bruno gets lice, which means he has his hair shaved off. Later Bruno gets changed to the spare prisoner clothes and gets over to the other side of the fence where Shmuel is. Bruno was shocked to find that the side of the fence where Shmuel was would be a lot nicer, but that was very false.
- As Bruno and Shmuel walk around the camp they get shoved in a group with the other prisoners into the gas chamber to take a 'shower'. Once they get inside, Bruno tells Shmuel that he was his best friend for life and held his hand. Shmuel didn't response. Then they both get gassed and die. Bruno's family find his clothes outside the fence days later after he dies. Gretel and Bruno's mother return to Berlin, and Bruno's dad returns after 2 years of being at Auschwitz.
