The british made a law that the colonists were not allowed to settle anywhere west of the Appalachian mountians. They made this law because after the French and Indian war they din't want to spend money protecting colonists from natives. This made the colonists upset because they had just fought in the french Indian war to get this land so they could settle there.

Stamp act
The stamp Act was a tax on all documents. The tax was put in place to pay for the Seven Years war aka the French Indian war. This upset the colonists because they now had to pay tax on things such as newspapers, official documents, reseats, etc.

Tea act of 1773
The tea act of 1773 was a tax on tea and was one of the townshend acts. This was put in place to bail out the british east india company and to extend their monopily over the tea trade. This upset the colonists because they thought they were not represented in parlement making it unfair the law was passed in the first place, This caused the famous quote of "taxation without representation" to form.
