- EXPOSITION
- Mary Maloney, six months pregnant, waits for her husband Patrick to return home from work. Patrick is a police officer and usually returns home at 5:00 PM. In the meanwhile, Mary likes to spend her time knitting.
- Mary:"I will fix some supper"
- When Patrick returns home, Mary is overjoyed to see him.She pours him a drink and inquires about his dinner plans.Patrick informs Mary that he wishes to speak with her.
- Patrick: "Of course I will give you some money and see that your taken care of"
- RISING ACTION
- Mary's reaction is one of shock. She travels tothe kitchen to get dinner, a leg of lamb. Upon herreturn, her reaction to the announcement is to hit herhusband over the head with a frozen leg of lamb, thuskilling him
- CLIMAX
- Mary hits her husband in the head as hard as she can, with the lamb leg. And Patrick also known as Mr.Maloney instantly dies.
- Mary:"Patrick is dead!!!I have just arrived of buying food and I think hes dead".
- Her decision to leave the house provides the ideal cover for someone to break in and murder her spouse. She contacts the cops and tells them what happened.They go to the grocer to double-check her story.
- FALLING ACTION
- Police:"We are going to your house now".
- RESOLUTION
- Mary:"I cant eat anything now , it would be a favor to me if you eat it Then you can go with your work".
- The police officers are in Mary's house trying to investigate the death. Mary invites the officers to eat the leg of the lamb, so no one is going to know that she murdered her husband.
