- The first amendment protects our right to have the freedom of religion, assembly, petition, press, and speech

- They added this to the constitution because of the fact they couldn't speak out and criticize their king. They wanted the people to have the right to speak out about their problems. So they addressed the grievance.
- The third amendment also protects people's property by not letting soldiers use your home, unwillingly, for home quarters during any war.
- Back when citizen's were apart of British rule, soldiers during the war could use anyone's home to house themselves. And the people of the house would have to cook for them as well.
- Ma'am open up, we are going to stay in your house for a few days.
- Sir I'm sorry you are not allowed in our home.
- This grievance was addressed in the Constitution and now, if you don't want to house any soldiers during any war willingly, you don't have to.
