  • These are the words that Julius Caesar spoke before crossing the Rubicon River. These words mean let the die be cast which was spoken because Caesar knew crossing this river with an army was illegal and would create a civil war. Five years this war lasted, with Caesar coming out on top and claiming himself a dictator for life.
