Storyboard Text

  • Before the Genpei War
  • What is it, Yoshinaka?
  • Tomoe, come quick! We need you and your skills against the Taira clan!
  • Fighting in the Genpei War
  • We'll be fine. Charge!!!
  • We're a little outnumbered!
  • Wounded
  • Owwwww...
  • Haha, now will you surrender?
  • Tomoe Gozen and Yoshinaka fought on the side of the Minamoto Clan in the Genpei War against the Taira Clan. Tomoe was a female samurai and hero of the Japanese.
  • Death
  • I'm dying, Tomoe.
  • The Minamoto Clan fought bravely but they were still outnumbered.
  • A Last Battle
  • You shall die, and my master will be proud!
  • Tomoe fought successfully, but Yoshinaka was badly wounded in battle.
  • Former Warrior and Hero
  • No, you must go, leave the battlefield! You have yet to fight other wars with a long life ahead. Leave me here to die, and don't forget the hero you are.
  • Yoshinaka was dying from his wound and Tomoe wanted to die with him. The dying man ordered her to leave the battlefield and Tomoe Gozen did so reluctantly.
  • Then I will stay and die with you, General Yoshinaka.
  • Tomoe was frustrated when she left and at least wanted to please Yoshinaka once more by fighting a final battle with a worthy opponent. She found a strong enemy leader and unsaddled him, then cut off his head and threw it to the side.
  • Please, I beg of you, spare me!
  • When she was finished, Tomoe removed her armor and helmet and rode far away toward the eastern provinces. Some say she became a nun, but what we know for sure is that nobody heard from her again.
  • You took the right path, samurai Tomoe Gozen. You will always be a hero. And as for me, there wouldn't have been a better way to die.
  • Faster, go faster! I want to leave this place forever and never come back!
