  • Location of the Continental Army
  • We are going to stay here for the winter of 1777. 
  • Where is the British?
  • We captured Philadelphia in the fall of 1777 and now we will stay here for some time.
  • Weather at the battle of Monmouth 
  • It is super hot but we can still win this! 
  • The continental army stayed in Valley Forge.
  • What happened?
  • AHHHH
  • The British area is in Philadelphia
  • Who won?
  • We won because we defeated Lee’s force!
  • British: 1 Americans:1
  • We won because we occupied the battlefield.
  • The weather was unbearably at temperatures over 90 degrees. Some soldiers even died because it was so hot and during the battle there was lack of water.
  • Why is this battle important?
  • This was longer than we expected
  • The British rear guard was attacked by the Americans. Then the American groups met Washington’s main force in Freehold, NJ. The British and the Americans fought for a long time.
  • They fought for a long time but it ended as a draw.
  • This battle was important because is was one of the longest and biggest battle of the war.
