- Van Buren tanks the economy and makes people go west after Andrew Jackson ordered withdrawal of federal government funds from the Bank of the United States
- John Jacob Astor created the American Fur Company. He would collect beaver petts and sell them in Europe. Mountain men would make lots of money from this.
- Mt. Men start to trap beavers. They would make beaver petts from this and would sell them to John Jacob Astor. They helped start the economy.
- Mt. Men started exploring in the summer. Then they would find the south pass. This pass would be what people would use to get to willamete.
- Mt Men would start to create rendezvous. They would use these to trade. Settlers would come to this area and go and settle.
- Settlers begin to go to oregon. The would begin in Independence, Missouri and end in Willamette valley.
