  • George Washington and his army slept in cabins, but his was much nicer than the others

  • This was George Washington headquarters in Forge Valley.
  • Problems Faced by the Soldiers #2
  • The soldier's quarters were more run down and not as nice as George Washington's. Under the direction of the army's engineers, the men began constructing over 2,000 log huts laid out along military streets.
  • Training with Baron Fredrick von Steuben
  • The army had to survive very harsh weather.
  • During the harsh weather, food was scarce but soldiers made due with what they had and ate "firecakes",.
  • They trained with Baron Fredrick for weeks and they learned how to point and shout their guns.
