Christians celebrate Christmas ever year on December 25th. They put presents around a tree that is decorated and they open them on Christmas day. My family is not Cristian but we still celebrate Christmas. We celebrate this Holiday by putting gifts under a Christmas tree and opening them on Christmas.
Hanuka is the Jewish holiday of lights. It is celebrated for 8 days and nights. During the holiday jewish people Each night they add a candle to the menorah. Each night the parents and children exchange gifts. This holiday helped me understand what hanuka is.
Kwanza is a holiday celebrated from December 26- january 1st. Duringthe holiday 7 candles are lit over a 7 day period. Kwanza was a way for natives to reclaim there heritage. A bowl of fruit is also displayed. The most important decoration is the unity cup A large cup that the family drinks from to show there unity. This heped me understand what some native americans celebrate. It was like learning a bit of a new culture.
