- Ok, let's talk about cellular respiration...
- That sounds fun, what is there to know about cellular respiration?
- There is a lot to know about cellular respiration.
- First, what is cellular respiration?
- Cellular respiration is the process that releases energy from food in the presence of oxygen.
- Don't cellular respiration have three stages? The the three stages are Glycolysis,Krebs Cycle,and ETC?
- Correct and in fact Glycolysis occurs in the cytoplasm of the cell. It's also anaerobic and is a pyruvic acid.
- Isn't the Krebs cycle aerobic and requires oxygen to occur and takes place in the mitochondria?
- I'm going to join in and tell you about ETC. ETC occurs in the mitochondria and is aerobic. It also requires energy and produces water as a waste product and makes a lot of energy for the cell of ATP.
- Correct, The Krebs cycle also uses carbon dioxide as a waste product.
