- Clean up the trash before mom gets home because I don't want her to yell at you again Andy.
- Okay...
- Layla and her little brother Andy lives with their mom who is never there. Layla and her brother feel abandoned and Layla always has to be the one that takes care of Andy.
- Layla's best friend Kristy wanted to do the partner project by herself but Layla wants to do some of the work too but kristy wont let her.
- I want to do some of the project too..... that's the whole point of a partner project.
- I want to do the whole project and you can do whatever you want!!
- Jane is Laylas bully and layla finds out at lunch that jane is taking pictures of layla because she has messy hair and looks dirty.
- I know you are taking pictures of me so please stop it because its not cool!!
- Dang, I just cant stand looking at your messy hair!
- Andy gets taken away from CPS because someone told them and they found out Layla and Andy were living in not great conditions with their mom. They had to take Andy away but they don't know where Layla is because she is hiding. She doesn't want to get taken too.
- I don't want to go leave me ALONE!
- Sorry buddy, we promise we will find you a nice home where nice people will take care of you.
- I hope Andy will be okay
- Layla runs away because she doesn't want the CPS to find her and take her away so she hides and goes to her hiding spot when things get bad at home.

- I hope they don't find me and take me away.
- Later on in the book, Layla gets arrested because they found her so they take her in.
- Please don't take me away!!
