- Dad:We gotta go to the ranch its harvest season and we have to get the thresher.
- Son:Dad did you know agriculture started about 10,000 years ago and one of the first hand-tools was a scythe ,they used it to cut down crops.Next they had to separate the grains from the stalk and they had to clean it all by hand .
- Dad:Wow!! that is a lot of time they probably took so many hours or even days to process 2 acres to cut the crops and separate the grains.
- Son: Lets go to the ranch I'll tell you more on the way.In 1827 in Scotland, Patrick Bell designed a reaping machine which was a row of shears to cut crops .it cut crops 15 times faster than by using a scythe.
- Dad: The pros were you probably finished faster and needed less workers but you needed horses. The horses also had to be mantained and it was more farmers.
- Son: Think about it now Dad, we have John Deer thresher that saves so much time compared to 100 years ago.Now you can cut down the crops and separate the grains in seconds.You need less people and we can finish faster.Look how time passes WOwwwww I'm amazed after finding out all of this information.
