- The Japanese had plenty of war crimes. One of the most known war crimes Japan has committed during this time was named The Rape of Nanjing or Nanjing Massacre. In 1937, a Japanese Army that was commanded by General Matsu Iwane entered Nanjing. The Japanese Army hunted and killed Chinese soldiers. Elderly, infants, and even entire families were executed, while a large number of women were being raped. The Japanese ruined the city by looting and burning at least 1/3 of the city's buildings. Bodies rotted the streets for months after the attack. It is estimated that 20,000 to 80,000 women were sexually assaulted and the death toll was 200,000 to 300,000 people. - Dat Nguyen
- During World war II, The US surrendered the Bataan Peninsula on the main Philippine island of Luzon To the Japanese. The Japanese rounded up the surrendered Americans and Filipinos and forced them to march about 65 miles on the southern end of the Bataan Peninsula, to San Fernando. It's believed that thousands of troops were starved and beaten to death by their captors. The ones that survived were taken to camps where almost all of them died from disease, mistreatment, and starvation.
- During WWII Germany expanded and conquered much of Europe. Instead of returning back to the same government and borders prior, Germany split into Eastern and Western Germany. The USSR took control of Eastern Europe where they fought the Germans while the Allies controlled the Western
- In WWII, there were plenty of effects, some good and many horrible. Starting with good, the US rose to superpower status and became the leader of the "free world. The US was able to rise to the top by avoiding economic ruin and even keep it thriving after the war. US was also the only country with atomic weapons. Along with helping the returning veterans unlike WWI really helped the US.
- After WWII, Soviet Union also became a superpower. The USSR came out of WWII with largest army at that time, huge military industrial complex, and they gained confidence after defeating Germany.
