Amelia lives in a country led by a dictator. The area she lives in is very poor, and the air is polluted.
Amelia and her family are very poor. The state won't give them any money, and neither of her parents are working. She has to wear old and dirty clothes.
Amelia's best friend Clare had moved to another country when they were 4. Amelia wishes she could have gone with Clare. Every Saturday, Clare tries to send Amelia a postcard showing her all the fun things that she did with her family.
One day, Clare writes Amelia a letter, telling her that her and her dad would be coming to visit.
Once Clare arrived, her and Amelia gave each other a long big hug. Later on, they started talking about their government. Amelia said that the government that was going on was dictatorship. She told Clare all the bad things that were going on, and that the dictator was called Rostong Motbollisk. Clare didn't like what Amelia was telling her. She started to talk about how the government she was living in was democratic, and how the election worked. She told Amelia that there was a prime minister, and that her name was Sara Rosengren.
After long, interesting subjects and conversations, Clare asked Amelia what she wanted to become when she was older. "I want to become a politician! I want to change this awful life some people are having, and help them out instead! I want everyone to be happy!" Amelia answered very proudly. "Really?" Clare asked. Before Amelia was able to answer, Clare excitedly said: "Me too!"
