- My receptor cells are actively reacting to this heat!
- Yeah! Interesting, though, it sends this information to our control center through the afferent pathway.
- Yes! Even though I'm not telling my brain to do it, it's sending important commands to our effectors via the efferent pathway, the sweat glands!
- True! True! All of this making our sweat glands release sweat making us all clammy and sweaty.. ugh
- Exactly and that's our response leading to heat loss!
- Ugh its so hot!
- And that's how we maintain homeostasis: the state of balance. Negative feedback loops are so cool, aren't they?
- Exactly, but can we stop talking about homeostasis and just go home already!
