- Did you know that every single person at OCU has the potential to be a great Servant Leader?
- You may be wondering, how can OCU cultivate these leaders?
- A significant factor in shaping young leaders is mentorship. Mentoring has the ability to demonstrate the qualities and characteristics that culminate to effective leadership and counsel young leaders that are developing their skills and mindset (Banerjee-McFarland, 2019, para. 1)
- Required mentorship programs through OCU would allow freshman to witness how OCU shapes students during their college experience as well as equipping seniors with the skills to be a life-long servant leader
- Banerjee-McFarland (2019) also points out that the extension of servant-leadership is beyond direct subordinates (para. 3). Cultivating servant leadership can take place outside the classroom by encouraging students to take part in their communities. Such as church committees, 4-H programs, and sports
- Finally OCU can develop servant leaders by continuing the positive work and learning environment they provide. This can be accomplished by establishing good relationships, trust, and clear communication (Raffaelli, 2014, para. 1-3).
- A poor balance of work-life can cause stress, burnouts, and a lack of well-being (Sanfilippo, 2020, para 1). OCU can encourage and help students understand the importance of a work-life balance framework through recommended syllabus schedules that help student's practice time management skills

- Stewardship is one way a servant leader can exhibit personal growth towards others (Kenton, 2019, para 2). OCU can help students find areas to serve whether it be in the college or in the community. By serving, Christ-like servitude is being instilled which will help cultivate servant leaders
