- Mark: Aw man, i'm gonna get a sunburn.
- Getting a sunburn from the sun's radiation
- Radiation
- Mark: Because the sun's heat radiates onto my body therefor giving me a sunburn. Radiation is the transfer of heat through electromagnetic waves.

- Luke: How do you get a sunburn?
- Conduction
- Mark: Oh my food is ready!
- Luke: You should use oven gloves while picking up the pan because they are good insulators. Insulators are things that are poor at transferring heat energy so if you use oven gloves when you pick up the pan you won't get burned!

- Mark: But why do I need to wear oven gloves?
- Luke: Because if you don't the pan's conduction will burn you. Conduction is the transfer of heat through direct contact!

- Mark: How come the hot air rises then sinks down and comes back a cool breeze?

- Luke: Well that's a convection current! Convection is the transfer of heat by movement of fluids including liquids and gasses. Convection occurs when hot air rises then cools then sinks down!
