  • alright class we will have a review about the appropriate tool when the variance is known, variance is unknown, and when the Central Limit Theorem that we tackled yesterday
  • when the variance is unknow, the appropriate test statistic to use is t-test,Zoe, what is t-test ?
  • a t-test is statistical test that compares the means of two samples. It is used in hypothesis testing, with a null hypothesis that the difference in group means is zero and an alternate hypothesis that the difference in group means is different from zero.
  • very good Zoe,How about the z-test Anthony?
  • A z-test is a statistical test to determine whether two population means are different when the variances are known and the sample size is large.
  • Yes that's right!Remember, Z-test is the appropriate tool to use in central limit theorem when; the population is distributed or the sample size is large and the true population means the z has a standard normal distribution, the sample size is extremely large and the variance is known or unknown, and the standard deviation when the value of population is unknown.
