- I say that the best way to settle this is to start a war with the British!
- One cause of the War of 1812, was the British's impressment (kidnapping) of US sailors, and force them to work on British ships. This as a result, interfered with shipping.

- Another cause of the war was the British seeking aid from the Native Americans. They wanted to stop American expansion in the Northwest.

- These are two of the few causes that led to a group of Westerners known as the War hawks, to declare war against Great Britain.

- Ft. McHenry was a British defeat that led to a turning point in the War of 1812, leading both sides to reach a peace agreement later that year.
- On December 24, 1814, the Treaty of Ghent was signed by British and American representatives at Ghent, Belgium. This treaty ended the War of 1812.
- The battle of New Orleans was the U.S victory against Great Britain in the War of 1812, and the final major battle of that conflict.
