  • Hi I'm MAGMArites. I am going to tell the Rock Cycle. Lets Goo!!
  • Intrusive Igneous Rock-rock forms when magma remains inside the Earth's crust where it cools and solidifies in chambers within pre-existing rock. (slowly)
  • Extrusive Igneous Rock-hot magma extrudes onto the surface as lava or explode. (quickly)
  • Igneous Rock-formed through the cooling and solidification of magma or lava.
  • Sedimentary Rocks- formed by the accumulation or deposition of mineral or organic particles at earth's surfaceWEATHERING-breaking up of rocks and soilEROSION-the moving up weathered rock and soil. Weathering allows erosion to take placeLITHIFICATION-process by which unconsolidated materials become solidified into rock.
  • FORMATION OF SEDIMENTARY ROCKS
  • 1. CLASTIC -rocks that when sedimentary (sand.silt, etc.) are Lithified2. NON-CLASTICA. ORGANICS(BIOCLASTIC)-form from living thingsex. COAL, LIMESTONEB. CHEMICAL (CRYSTALINE)-formed from the evaporation or precipitation of sea water. ex. HALITE, GYPSUM
  • CLASTIC SEDIMENTARY ROCKS-composed of fragments of older rocks that have been deposited and consolidatedex. RED SAND STONE, BRECCIACHEMICAL SEDIMENTARY ROCKS-form when minerals precipitate from a solution, usually sea water, halite and gypsum are example of minerals.ex. TRAVERTINE, CHERT, ROCK SALTBIOCHEMICAL SEDIMENTARY ROCKS-composed of accumulations of organic debris.ex. CHALK, LIMESTONE, COQUIANA
