  • The battle of Saratoga was a turning point for the colonists. This was the first war they won, and it got the attention of European nations. They decided to help the colonists fight their war for independence.

  • France starts to help the American and they persuade Spain to also help the Americans in fighting the Revolution
  • The legacy of the War 
  • French and Spanish both helped by providing supplies, food, military training and troops. A 19-year old noble man volunteered to serve in Washington's army, and he provided the soldiers with clothes he bought with his money. he also persuaded the French King to send 6,000 soldiers
  • The cost of the war 
  • It officially ended the war, it made it known that the United States are Independent, and It boundaries would be the Mississippi River on the west, Canada on the north, and Spanish Florida on the south. It was sign at France. The British did not want to be in the painting.

  • The Americans won because of many things. They had spies, aid from Spain and France, motivation, knowledge of the lands, and better leadership of George Washington.

  • At the end of the war there was in total 25,700 people who died, 1,400 people who were still missing, 8,200 people wounded, Lots of loyalist lost their property, people who survived and left the army left with no or little money, and the national debt was $27 Million.
