  • In this stanza he is very sad because everything reminds him of his dead wife. However a raven starts to make a noise outside trying to be let in because it notices he is sad but the man is scared for who is at the door.
  • I miss my wife so much, please come back....
  • I'll move in closer so he knows what is hitting the window.
  • This scene conveys that he is still very confused for who is out there so late? He hears the weird noise on his window and decides to go and open the window. A raven then fly's in and just sits. The man was very confused, for who or what is this bird coming from?
  • what the- who are you? what are you doing in my house??
  • Can he not see that I'm a bird?
  • "Nevermore!"
  • This is the scene when the man is coming up with different things that he thinks the bird is coming from or if he has a message. His assumption about the bird is that it is from the afterlife. The bird is an allusion to the after-life for “my dead wife Lenore.” The Raven is just wanting to keep him company.
  • The bird can speak??
  • Are you an illusion from the afterlife of my dead wife?? Oh Lenore please return to me!
  • "Nevermore!"
  • The author uses this scene to explain that the raven keeps on answering his questions with “nevermore”. The man starts to think that the raven was God trying to take away grief about Lenore. He then starts talking about his memories with her. He just wanting the crow to answer without “nevermore”.
  • Nevermore!
  • Come on, tell me something more than "nevermore"
  • The significance of this stanza or scene is that the man is asking if he is ever going to be reunited with Lenore, and the ravens answer is “nevermore”. He then takes all of the answers to his questions very seriously and gets very mad at the Raven. The Raven is very confused why he is getting so mad because he is just wanting to help.
  • Am I ever going to be reunited with my beloved Lenore?
  • "Nevermore!"
  • I just wanted some hope to see my wife again
  • The author exposes anger in this scene because all of his anger starts to build up and he was just wanting a little bit of hope to see his wife again. He takes all of his anger out on the Raven and says “GET OUT DEVIL””I DON’T WANT YOU HERE”. The raven then leaves, he was just wanting to comfort him.
  • "WHAT!, GET OUT YOU DEVIL, I DON'T WANT YOU HERE!!!"
  • I just wanted to give you company...
  • *crow fly's away*
