- Here is the turkey, I remember when you used to tell me that story when I was a little girl about Thanksgiving, tell them too.
- The holiday originates from the story of the first Pilgrims who came to the Americas on the ship Mayflower. These men would not have survived the freezing winter without the help of the Native Americans and the Plymouth Colony did not have enough food to feed its entire population.
- Based on this story Thanksgiving Day is celebrated, which over time was transformed and is now considered as a day to give thanks for the blessing of the harvest and for all the good that had happened during the year.
- However, the natives of the Wampanoag tribe planted seeds and learned to fish, and in 1621 they gave a special dinner to the Native Americans as a symbol of thanks for teaching them farming and hunting techniques that were essential to their survival.
