  • The First Miracle (26AD)
  • Jesus Chooses the 12 Disciples (28AD)
  • The Last Supper (30AD - Thursday, April)
  • Throughout the first part of his ministry, Jesus made tours; ranging from his base at Capernaum in Galilee to the neighbouring towns and villages. This was to prove his mission, thus by performing miraculous deeds. In the Gospels these are described as raising the dead, casting out devils, healing the sick, and calming the waves and winds by command.
  • Arrest and Trial (30AD - Friday, April)
  • Jesus chose a group of 12 disciples, consisting of followers called apostles, to help him with his work. He gave them special teachings and shared with them some of his own deepest religious experiences so that they could understand who he was.
  • Crucifixion and Death (30AD - Friday, April)
  • Jesus returned to Jerusalem with the realisation that his teachings had aroused opposition, and one of his own disciples had turned against him. His preparations for the end began; he gathered all 12 of his disciples for a final meal, and explained to them that his death was necessary as it would establish a new covenant between God and man, and it was their duty to spread his teachings after he was gone. He took bread and wine, blessed it, and said "This is my body... this is my blood", and is currently how Christians celebrate the Holy Communion.
  • Resurrection (30AD - Sunday, April)
  • Once they had finished their meal, Jesus and his disciples went to the Mount of Olives; a hill on the east side of Jerusalem. This is where Judas Iscariot brought man to arrest Jesus, and then took him to Jewish leaders for trial. Here he was sent to death, after responding to the Priest's questions by saying he was the Christ. From here he was sentenced to be crucified by the Roman governor, Pontius Pilate, after consulting the crowd.
  • Jesus was crucified between two convicted thieves, and died 6 hours later. Soldiers affixed a sign to the top of the cross, stating "Jesus of Nazareth, King of the Jews". After his death, one soldier pierced his side with a spear to be certain he had died, and water and blood gushed out. The Bible describes seven statements that Jesus had said on the cross, and other supernatural events that occured.
  • That evening (Friday), the body of Jesus was taken down from the cross and laid in a tomb, and a great stone was rolled across the entrance. Early on the Sunday morning (which would come to be known as Easter Sunday), a group of female disciples entered the tomb, and found the stone rolled back, and his body gone. Jesus appeared to Mary Magdalene, and with this the news spread of his ressurection.
