King of Persia wanted to conquer the Greeks in 490 BC. He wanted every soldier of the army together that would outnumbered everyone from the Army of Greeks they Boarded the Persian fleet and headed to Greece
Battle of Thermopylae
The Persia fleet landed by the Bay of Marathon its 25 miles from Athens. The Persia took a lot of soldiers but they underestimated the fight with the Greeks The army of Athens killed about 6,000 Persia soldiers and the Greeks lost 192 soldiers. After the war the Athens went back to the city so the Persia wouldn't attack their city
Battles of Salamis
The son of Darius wouldn't take a no for an answer He brought a way bigger army than his dad ever did still lost battle after battle agaisnt Grecce.
The Greeks put together a small force, led by the Spartan King Leonidas I and 300 Spartans. They decided to meet the Persians at a narrow pass in the mountains called Thermopylae. The Greeks held off the Persians killing thousands, until the Persians found a way around the mountains and got behind the Greeks. King Leonidas told most of his troops to flee, but stayed behind with a small force including his 300 Spartans in order to allow the rest of the Greek army to escape.
The Persia continued to march on the Greece. When they finally arrived at the city of the Athens they found everything fled deserted everyone from Athens was fled. The Athenian fleet where waiting at the end of the coast of island Salamis. The Persian attacked the Athenian ship they thought they would finally have victory The Athens had a very protected ship but not the Persia so their ship suck and they did too.
