  • Geography and Location of Rome
  • The Myth of Romulus and Remus
  • Influence of Etruscan Engineering
  • Rome is located in Italy. It is also a peninsula because it is surrounded by water on three sides. Some people think that Rome is shaped like a boat or a shoe but others think it looks like a dorito. The Rome empire stretched from Africa to Asia Minor, over seven hills and three continents.
  • Etruscan influence of the Sports on the Romans
  • A princess gave birth to 2 twins and they had the name of Romulus and Remus. Their dad was the god of Mars, the Roman god of war. The twins uncle ordered them to be killed by leaving them in the Tiber river. A she-wolf found them and took them as her own children. As the twins grew older they took over Rome and the Throne. Only one person could control the throne so Romulus killed Remus, so he could get the fame.
  • Greek influence of Architecture on the Romans
  • The influence that the Etruscans had on the Romans was the way they built things, engineering. They had two major structures that required a lot of engineering. They were called the Arch and Conculus. The Arch was constructed for a place called the Colosseum, that's where gladiators fought. The Conculus was a under ground water irrigation system. The Conculus gave cities a way to get water for food and other things.
  • Greek influence of Writing,Art, and Religion
  • The main two Etruscans sports that influenced the Romans was chariot racing and slave fighting. Both of these sports could result in death or serious injury. Slave fighting was when their master would die, the two biggest slaves would fight each other. Who ever won would get congratulated then killed. So both of the slaves would end up dying in the end. Chariot racing was just as bloody, people could fall off the chariots and get trampled by horses or worse.
  • Greek architecture was one of the most important influences. The Romans used the Greeks ideas to build their temples and buildings. For example they built the Colosseum from Greek architecture ideas of their temples. The Romans also used their designs for buildings. The Romans would use concrete and the designs of the columns. The Romans were so influenced they made a Temple called the Pantheon to be like the Greek temple, the Parthenon.
  • The Romans adapted Greek writing, religion, and art. The Romans learned how to make the art with the same material like marble, concrete and more. Their sculptures were more life like than the Greeks. They had gods just like the Greeks but just changed their names to a Roman name. They altered the alphabet of Etruscans and Greek to Roman. They used capitals of numbers for the alphabet like the Greeks. Romans writing was also inspired by myths and writings of Greeks. The Romans copied the Greeks so much there is a thing called Greco-Roman art.
