Montrersor pretends to be delighted to see his ‘friend’ Fortunato, however we know he only wants revenge towards Fortunato, so he uses his hypocrisy to fool fortunato.
Montresor knows how prideful Fortunato is so he uses this tohis advantage to get Fortunato to go with him to go find the ‘amontillado’. Withouteven knowing Fortunato is leading and insisting his own death.
For a brief moment Montresor was hesitant and was even trebling but we see the determination he has on burying Fortunato alive instantly came back to him. He even shouted even louder to let Fortunato know that no one will hear him.
