  • I feel so happy today! The new "Green Revolution" machinery will arrive today arrive!
  • This large plot of land is perfect, I can now expand and enter agribusiness.
  • Is this Farmer Joe?Here's your delivery of equipment and GMOs from Happy Farmer Networks.
  • Yes, I'm Joe. Gee, thanks!
  • Now, which crop should I plant? I think corn would be a good option, after watching that movie, I feel good about corn.
  • Whoa, this big piece of metal is hard to control. I will have to learn how to use heavy machinery.
  • THE FARM REVOLUTION
  • Thanks to this big machinery, the job of manual labor gets so easy and quick! So happy!

  • Farmer Joe John London Jr. is excited to receive the new herbicides, pesticides, and genetically-modified seed crops. Farmer Joe dreams to become a large farmer and these new technologies can help him.

  • Aha! I'll visit this store and buy these special corn seeds.
  • Farmer Joe recently bought a few acres of land to expand his farming operations. Through this, he can grow more crops, and in return produce a greater profit.
  • High quality, hmmm, that sounds good to me. Drought, weed, and insect resistant? Perfect!
  • Farmer Joe has received his new equipment and GMO seeds.
  • Do you have any other corn seeds?
  • I'm sorry sir, we only have one supplier for corn seeds.
  • Farmer Joe's new equipment.

  • An overhead view of Farmer Joe's land and his neighboring farmers. They unitized the Township-and-Range system to divide up land.
  • It's time to plant some corn! My commercial agriculture journey starts today!
  • Farmer Joe watched the documentary "King Corn," an example of popular culture and diffusion.
  • Ah, I forgot to purchase a seed-machine. But never fear, as I will still outcompete my competitors outside of this country!
  • Farmer Joe sits in his new bulldozer, ready to start farming.
  • I will also need to build a warehouse, where I can store my premium corn!
  • Farmer Joe finishes plowing his fields, he finishes this task in no time. The heavy machinery helped him do it, thanks to the results of the Agricultural Revolution.
  • Farmer Joe gets into his car for a short joyride.
  • A few more months, and then the seeds will quickly sprout.
  • Farmer Joe sees an advertisement as he drives in his car. He continues towards the sign, as he had previously desired corn seeds.
  • So fast, wow! These special cash crops grow so fast. I can make quick and easy profit now. So glad I switched to commercial agriculture!
  • Farmer Joe enters the store.
  • I love tractors and automatic harvesting machines!
  • Farmer Joe tries to find another variety, but finds only one type.
  • Everything's all done and harvested.
  • Farmer Joe heads home after purchasing a fifty-two bags of corn seeds.
  • The next day, Farmer Joe readies himself to plant the corn seeds.
  • Farmer Joe has planted his seeds, now he must wait for the to grow. He figures that he will beat his competitors who are using subsistence agriculture, as he uses now the practice of extensive agriculture.
  • After finishing the job of planting seeds, Farmer Joe decides it would be wise to construct a storage structure for his large projected harvest.
  • Farmer Joe's storage compound has now been completed, he can't wait for harvest to begin.
  • He waits patiently, knowing from experience that it takes around one year for a full harvest.
  • In six months time...
  • Farmer Joe harvests his GMO corn, he likes it very much.
  • Farmer Joe has finished his first harvest. He has called the local distributor to collect the corn and then he will get paid.
  • A large corporation picks up and pays Farmer Joe for his corn. The corn is loaded onto the truck and taken away to a distribution center.
  • The trucker takes the corn to the processing center close to the CBD, as the farming zone is outside of the main city, and so long-distance transportation is required. (Concentric-Zones Model Spatial Distribution)
  • To the city! La La La!
  • Farmer Joe turns on his television, and on the news he finds a mention of the same corn seeds he planted. He tunes in.
  • What's that coming on the news? Is that the same brand I bought?
  • Farmer Joe listens to the news. He lives on the country side, far away from city and densely populated areas, yet he is able to receive the same information as someone who lives closer to the incident. (Time-Distance Decay Hierarchical Diffusion)
  • So, the seed's potential danger was hidden from the public! It took them so long to release details.
  • An E.coli outbreak! How bad! I regret growing that corn.
  • ORGANIC CORN SEEDSNEXT EXIT
  • Now that looks interesting, I'll ask about that at the store.
  • Tell me about those organics. Sounds good! I'll buy them.
  • These seeds are not heavily modified, and do not require the heavy use of pesticides and other chemicals. It is grown using more natural and safer ways.
  • Farmer Joe learns about the epidemic caused by the seeds, and how it was hidden by the company. (Information Gate keepers)
  • The next morning Farmer Joe drives to the store to return the bags of seeds he had bought.
  • On the way, Farmer Joe sees a billboard which advertises organic seeds.
  • Farmer Joe arrives at the store, and after returning the seeds, the talks to a store associate. The talk about organic agriculture.
  • Farmer Joe heads back to his farm, he has a new idea brewing in his mind.
  • Farmer Joe researches organic agriculture when he comes back home.
