  • The Korean war was a dispute between north and south Korea which lasted over two years and led to 5 million casualties. The US aided the southern side in order to prevent a communist world invasion which they feared. They also feared a greater war with Korea's allies, China and Russia.
  • Berlin War
  • The space race was a competition between the Soviet Union and the US during 1955-1975. The purpose of the space race was to see who had better science, technology and economic system as well as to see who could reach the moon first. Russia was the first to send a satellite to space, sputnik, but the US was the first to reach the moon with Neil Armstrong being the first man to set foot on the moon.
  • Cuban Missile Crisis
  • US attempt during the cold war to stop the spread of communism from the Soviet Union and attempt to cause the reign to collapse. The Truman Doctrine aided Greece and Turkey as a first application of containment.
  • Vietnam War
  • The Berlin wall was a physical barrier in Germany that divided eastern and western Germany. Its purpose was to keep western fascist out of the communist side of Berlin. The wall ended up getting torn down on November 9, 1989.
  • The Cuban missile crisis was a 13 day conflict and dispute between the US and the Soviet Union. The dispute was over the placement of Soviet missiles placed in Cuba that could potentially be used against the US.
  • The Vietnam war was a war between north and south Vietnam in which the US was with south Vietnam while north Vietnam had communist allies. The was lasted 19 years and is considered a cold war era proxy war
