- Hi Fred.
- What's wrong?
- Oh, I'm just thinking about life. Death. How things were, how they are, and how they might be in the future.
- Oh. And how's that going?
- Honestly, not great.
- ...
- Sure.
- Fred, can I tell you a story?
- Ahem... Once upon a time, there was no life on Earth. No animals, no humans, nothing but *primordial ooze*. From this ooze, life began.
- A few billion years later, the earliest humans evolved. And honestly, it's kind of been all downhill from there.
- Today, nearly 8 BILLION people inhabit the Earth. And they're pretty much wreaking havoc.
- Look around, Fred. Humans really like things, LOTS of things. A lot of plastic.Remember that bottle cap Bob swallowed?It came from humans.
- How so?
- Yeah. Some of the humans are trying to save the environment, but carpooling and and taking shorter showers isn't going to cut it. Their attempts are pointless, meaningless, absurd... *sigh*
- Poor Bob.
- Will things be better in the future?
- Maybe. But that future might not involve humans.Let's take a look...
- Oh wow, a whole new world! No humans. Just plastic, and new life forms that can feed on it!
- But what about us, Tommy?
- Sorry buddy, it looks like the humans took us down with them. But now there are fish that can eat bottle caps without choking!
