Odysseus and his men went to the coast line of the Lotus Eaters in search to see what race the people who inhabit the island are. The three men who went on this search found the Lotus Eaters and tried eating the lotus. The ones who ate the lotus never cared to return or report back to there crew. Odysseus brought the ones who ate the lotus back to his ship and they continued sailing.

Odysseus picked three of his men to find out whom lived upon the island. They than ran into the lotus eaters and they gave them the flowers.
Odysseus went out on the island to find the men he sent out, so he could bring them back.
