- This is example of verbal irony because Fortunato because sacarism because carnival season is a little silly and Montresor trying to be friendly and act like he likes the outfit so he could lead him in.

- "It was about dusk, one evening during the supreme madness of carnvial season, that I encounter my friend."
- This is example of dramatic irony because Fortunato doesn't know where he is go so Montresor and the readers know whats going to happen to Fortunato but Fortunato thinks he is going somewhere to have some wine with Montresor.
- Dramatic Irony
- "Through walls of piled bones."
- This is example of situational irony because Montresor plan is finally working on Fortunato because Fortunato keeps getting a cough from the wine Montresor was giving him but Fortunato says its fine, its just a cough and Montresor acts like he is worried but Fortunato thinks its ok and should stay so Montresor revenge is working.
- "Thank you, my friend. I drink to the dead who lie sleeping around us."
