- I must find this great river!
- I am Robert de la Salle I am a French explorer and Fur trader I would like to voyage to and find new land for France!
- There is a great river named the Ohio River that has good soil for crops and land.
- I would like you to go on this adventure however I will not pay for your expedition.
- (Read after the king speaks) Ok I will take out a big loan.
- Robert and his crew set sail on July 24, 1684!
- We will find new riches and land!
- The name of Robert de la Salle's ship was La Belle
- The French king hired Robert to go explore the world for new riches and land however he had to pay for the voyage himself

- We finally made it!
- Robert and his crew missed the mouth of Mississippi and landed 500 miles to the west of the coast of what is now Texas
- I have founded a colony named Fort St. Louis!
- Yummy!
- Robert and his crew ate all of their food during the first few weeks of building Fort St. Louis.
- Oh no we have run out of food because we hunted it all when we arrived!
- Robert and his crew brought Muskets, diseases such as smallpox, and iron.

- Oh no they're gonna kill me!
- Robert's crew thought he was crazy because he wanted to live in this food deprived land.
- WHERE IS THE FOOD IM HUNGRY! ROBERT MUST HAVE BEEN CRAZY MOVING SOMEWHERE WITH LITTLE FOOD!
- Robert de la Salle brought over a new language which was French he also brought Christianity, and he brought the rule of France
- On March 19, 1687 Robert de la Salle was murdered by his own crew. The following days his crewmates all died of starvation.
