- Mr. Sir and The Warden abuse Stanley, Zero and other kids to force them to dig for treasure that was lost long ago by the town's ancestors, when a curse was put on the town and Stanley's family.

- You'll get no water. Keep digging, Stanley
- Oh no! It's the curse of my no-good dirty rotten pig-stealing great great grandfather
- I need that treasure!
- Stanley and Zero run away to save their lives and look for water. They begin to realize their connection to the town's past. The great great grandson of the pig stealer carries the great great grandson of the gypsy to get water, and so breaks the curse.
- The heat of the sun, day after day, takes a toll
- I hope Zero is going to be ok. We've got to reach the top of the Thumb...just...a...little...while...more....
- They get caught by The Warden and Mr. Sir.
- When they find the treasure, their luck turns and they are rescued by the lawyers. Stanley becomes more optimistic about his future, and his family is reunited. The theme is it is never too late to fix bad karma that happened in the past with good deeds.
- We have to save these boys.
- It's a miracle I'm still alive!
- Finally it's mine.
