Hello, I'm Julie Booth, an ES student at Sheridan College
I am the facilitator of personal growth and friendship skills. I help students with exceptionalities build their strengths, manage their behaviours, as well as, develop social skills and relationships.
I serve the students and their teachers, enabling each of us to become the best versions of ourselves.
Authority
My plan is to be a Holistic Educator with an authority in behavioural managment. I will do this by continuing my studies into Challenging behaviours, conducting interviews with my professors and completing further research.
Qualities
I have strong work ethics and am a valued team member. I am understanding, patient and a quick learner. I adapt easily to change and have the ability to remain calm. I consider myself to be dependable, honest, and kind.
My friends and collegues consider me sensible, understanding, trustworthy, and confident.
They describe me as easy-going and non-judgemental. I am helpful and approachable, assisting others when required. My work Supervisor once called me "Switzerland" in refernce to my abilities to get along with everyone. Mostly though, I am dedicated and take resposibility for my work and actions.
My placement Classroom teacher indicated I have an, "excellent sense of calmness during times of student stress or escalated behaviours". This was after one of the students had a violent outburst in class.
What am I like in the classroom.....?
I am engaging, taking the time to build relationships and trust with the students. I am optomistic and will strive to instill that, along with, hope within the children.
Teaching inclusion and building social skills for all of the students. Along with assisting the teacher in lessons, promoting learning and growth... Essentially, I am the sidekick to the Superheroes of the classroom.
My ultimate goal is to be the person teachers request for their classroom and the one the students are excited to see. I wish to create an atmosphere inspiring students to try their best, manage their behaviours and feelings and know how to advocate for themselves.
I am very excited to be a part of the Halton District School Board. I can be found on Twitter, LinkedIn along with Email.
