  • Mom, what's the use of a greenhouse? we could have built such an awesome science lab there.
  • Why don't you ask the plants that depend on them? Oh and also there is some cool science involved. The plants will help you understand
  • Well for starters, we need a certain temperature to grow and make food, like the stove in your home helps you cook.
  • Yup and the greenhouse traps that heat into the greenhouse for us.
  • Also, same pinch. We both get the heat to make our food from radiation. That's how your stove and the suns rays transfer heat.
  • Ya, radiation is when heat travels through air or even a vacuum. That's how the sun reaches us even though space is a vacuum
  • A greenhouse works by converting light energy into heat. Light enters the greenhouse and is trapped there by the glass and absorbed by the plants and other objects. This causes the light energy to be converted to heat energy, which is trapped inside the greenhouse.
  • trapped in
  • Reflected back
  • Our earth has its own greenhouse covering. there are greenhouse gases that surround the earth's atmosphere and prevent heat from escaping back into space.
  • Greenhouse gasses
  • Wow, mom. I didn't know that our greenhouse was so important and had so much science involved. I thought it was just to showcase plants.
  •
  • Well it does look pretty but it has a scientific purpose. The glass traps heat inside. That's why we keep our glass windows open during summer.
