- The Mexican American War started over a dispute whether Texas ended at the Nueces River or the Rio Grande.
- Shots were fired and in the end no one knew who would be the last one standing.
- A American was shot and bleed on American soil.
- On May 8 and 9, General Taylor won battles at Palo Alto and Resaca de la Palma. Then went south into Mexico with U.S.troops.
