Storyboard Text

  • Ollie wants to be outside and not in class. When school does get out, Phil Greenblat has Coco Zitner's notebook and is making fun of her because she has drawn a picture of herself in a heart with Brian Battersby. Coco tries to get her notebook back, but it takes Ollie throwing a rock at the back of Brian's head for the book to be returned.
  • Ollie races off from school to escape and read, but when she gets to her favorite secret spot, a woman, who has been crying, is already there. The woman is trying to get rid of a book by throwing it in the river. Because Ollie loves books, she grabs the book, and races off with it, but not before the woman gives her a warning about sticking to small spaces.
  • When she heads home, Ollie gets a lecture from her dad about the rock incident at school, because both the principal and Brian's mom have called. To avoid her problems, Ollie retreats up to her room to be alone and begins reading the book she has taken from the lady by the river.
  • In the morning, Ollie wants to stay in bed and keep reading her book, because Caleb and Jonathon are fighting over Beth Webster, and Caleb has just run off, but her dad insists she goes to school. He packs her a lunch, and gives her a ride forcing her to face the consequences of the day before.
  • Ollie and Brian start the school day in the principal's office. Brian pretends that Ollie had nothing to do with the rock incident, and the principal lets them both off. Ollie believes Brian defends her just because she is that girl and is a bit upset with him. He tries to make conversation, but they are forced to head off to class.
  • In class, Mr. Easton tells the class a ghost story about all the spooky things associated with Misty Valley Farm, the place the students are headed to, and Ollie begins to wonder about the similarities between her book and the story Mr. Easton tells.
