- King Claudius and Queen Gertrude interrogate Rosencrantz and Guildenstern about their discussion with Hamlet. When Rosencrantz and Guildenstern leave, Claudius sends Gertrude off so that Polonius and Ophelia can plan the "chance" of meeting Hamlet to test Hamlet's love for Ophelia.
- King Claudius and Polonius told Ophelia to act like you're reading a book while walking by the hallway.
- Hamlet appears and starts to contemplate suicide. This is where Hamlet gives one of his famous soliloquies ever "to be, or not to be". While Hamlet is contemplating suicide, Ophelia tries to give him a gift but Hamlet denies the gifts and he also denies his love for her.
